Lauren Dinning

Principal Lawyer and Director
LLB (Hons) BA (Psych) GDLP
AIFLAM Accredited Mediator
Independent Children’s Lawyer

Lauren grew up in Mildura and it was here that her passion for the law was established, working in a local law firm initially as the mail officer, then a clerk, doing internships during the summer breaks at University and eventually as a lawyer.

Lauren studied at Adelaide University and completed her degrees being a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Languages) in 2004 as well as undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with the Law Society of South Australia. Prior to commencing in practice, Lauren worked as a Judge's Associate at the District Court of South Australia before being appointed as Head Associate. After this role, Lauren joined a boutique family law practice in Adelaide where she remained for 5 years.

In 2010, Lauren returned to Mildura equipped with knowledge and experience in family law and advocacy which has been built over the years. After many years in private practice, Lauren became involved with Mallee Family Care, first as a member of the Board of Directors and then with the Community Legal Centre. It was here that Lauren took part in policy development, law reform work, consultations with Government departments and funding submissions. Lauren also mentored more junior solicitors in terms of legal strategy, advocacy and casework support.

In 2019, Lauren made the decision to return to client-based work by establishing Dinning & Co initially as a practice where she conducted work as an Independent Children’s Lawyer. Dinning & Co has then expanded, as a result of her real passion for social justice in a regional setting.

Lauren is a panel practitioner with Victoria Legal Aid and National Legal Aid for the purposes of her work as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, a Regional Representative and member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and a Member of the Law Institute of Victoria. Lauren is also a nationally Accredited Mediator and a member of the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators (AIFLAM).
